Covid-19 Precautions

October 6, 2020

Dear InspireNOLA Parents and Guardians,

COVID-19 has dramatically changed the world over the past six months, and it will continue to impact what we used to consider “normal.” We are now in our fourth week of in-person instruction with our PreK – 4th grade students, and the health and safety of our students, staff, parents, and community remains our highest priority.

We are following all guidance and guidelines provided by NOLA Public Schoolsthe Louisiana Department of Education, and the CDC, and are routinely updating our plans based on new information that they provide. As per the most recent CDC information available, COVID-19 symptoms can range from mild symptoms to severe illness. COVID-19 symptoms include:

  • Fever of 100.4 or greater

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of smell or taste

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

To ensure the health and safety of our entire school community, the following requirements and provisions are in place:

  1. If your child is displaying any of the above symptoms, please do not send them to school for in-person instruction.

  1. If your child is at school and displays any of the above symptoms, they will be immediately isolated to ensure there is not a potential spread of any illness. You will then be contacted and required to pick up your child as soon as possible.

  1. If your child is sent home for showing any of the symptoms listed above, a doctor's note is required before your child may return to in-person learning.

  1. If your child has tested positive for COVID-19 or has been directly exposed to a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, you must notify the school administration immediately.

If you have any questions, please consult your healthcare provider or the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans Hotline for School Wellness & Virtual Care at (504) 837-7760.
